Why did you make this site?

MLS games kick off anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes after the published time, and it's very difficult for fans to find out what time the game will actually kick off. This is disrespectful to the fans, who should be able to plan when they need to leave work, when halftime will be, etc. without sitting through 20 minutes of previews or, alternatively, planning for a late kickoff and missing the first 20 minutes.

That's weird. Does any other major sports league do this?

No! If a Premier League game says it kicks off at noon, the game will kick off at noon. NFL afternoon games will advertise a 1:05 or 1:25 kickoff, and then kick off at that time; they don't say "1pm" and then expect the viewer to guess what time the game starts. MLB schedules will tell you if the first pitch is at 7:05 or 7:10 or 7:15; they don't just say "7pm".

A publicly available data source.

Who are you?

I'm a software consultant and terrible right fullback.

What software are you using?

The site's code is written in Go, and nginx terminates TLS and proxies through traffic. It's hosted on a DigitalOcean server.

Why does the Twitter account post times in Pacific time?

Because that's where I live, and everyone else posts times in Eastern time, so I wanted to make something for the West Coast folks.

The kickoff time wasn't right!

It can happen - sometimes there's a delay due to stadium conditions, or a previous program went late, or the data entry was just incorrect. The site is only as good as the data that feeds into it.
